Get to Know Serena

Serena is a first-generation Asian American and is a highly skilled school psychologist and board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA). She is passionate about providing positive behavior support and using data to make informed decisions. In her role as a BlazerWorks School Psychology and BCBA Advisor, Serena thrives on supporting educators with the implementation of evidence-based interventions, completing comprehensive IEP and behavioral assessments, and providing conflict management support within multidisciplinary teams.

Serena brings a decade of experience in public education as a school psychologist and BCBA to the BlazerWorks team. She has a background in assessments with children in residential treatment facilities as well as case management and counseling experience with adolescents in the juvenile justice system. Serena has worked with all age groups from pre-K to 12th grade and has extensive knowledge of functional behavior assessments, behavior intervention plans, classroom management systems, and school-wide positive behavior supports. In addition to her experience in education, Serena practices Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and is also a former United States Marine with a background in logistics embarkation.

Serena earned her Bachelor of Arts in Child and Adolescent Development from San Jose State University. She also earned her Master of Arts in School Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin. In addition, she has her Behavior Analyst Certificate from the Florida Institute of Technology. Serena is a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP) licensed through the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists, a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) certified through the National Association of School Psychologists, and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certified through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
