Get to Know Katelyn
Katelyn is a passionate special educator with an interest in education law and policy. Throughout her career she has been motivated to remove barriers to education and advocate for students to be able to access culturally relevant and accessible education. In her role as a Special Education Advisor, Katelyn enjoys advising districts and educators to ensure students receive developmentally appropriate instruction and access to highly qualified and effective teachers.
Katelyn has seven years' experience in general and special education in a self-contained and resource model. As a fellow educator, her goal is to provide support for teachers where she can lend a listening ear and provide practical and research-based solutions to their challenges and concerns.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Special and Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University, her Master of Arts in Reading with an Emphasis in Elementary Education from Grand Canyon University, and her Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Arizona State University. She is currently working towards her Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy from the University of Arizona, expected in 2025. She also has her Board Certification in Inclusion in Special Education (BCISE). In addition, she is a member of several groups for educators including the Center for Exceptional Children (CEC), the Council of Administrators of Special Education (CASE), and many more.
